Get started with OpenShift Streams for Apache Kafka

Red Hat OpenShift Streams for Apache Kafka is a managed cloud service for architects and developers working on event-driven applications. It provides hosted and managed, high-availability Kafka clusters on-demand, so you can focus on developing your applications while Red Hat takes care of the infrastructure.  In this learning path you’ll sign up for a free Red Hat account, provision a managed Kafka instance, and connect to it using service account credentials via SSL.

Create a Red Hat account

You need a Red Hat account to provision a managed Kafka instance. If you don’t have a Red Hat account, this is how you can create one:

  1. Go to console.redhat.com.
  2. Click the Register for a Red Hat account link to create a Red Hat account.
  3. Select the Personal account type.
  4. Complete the form.

Once you’ve completed the sign-up process, you’ll be taken to a landing page (Figure 8) where you will be able to access the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console and continue this learning path.

When you create or log in to your Red Hat account, you are presented with many options and recommendations.
